Why Belfast homeowners are switching to composite doors

From red-brick terraces off the Ormeau and Cregagh roads to new builds in Dundonald and Comber, the front doors we replace most often are tired timber and first-generation uPVC — warped by damp winters, draughty, and easy targets for forced entry. A modern composite door solves all three problems at once.

Serious security

A solid 44–70mm core, multi-point locking and anti-snap cylinders, tested to PAS 24 — the standard behind the police-backed Secured by Design scheme. It's the single best security upgrade you can make to your home.

Warmer, quieter home

A-rated thermal performance with double or triple glazing keeps heat in and traffic noise out — and takes the draught out of your hallway for good. Many customers notice the difference the first evening.

Looks that last 30 years

The GRP skin gives you the look of painted timber without the upkeep: no warping, rotting, flaking or repainting — just an occasional wipe down. Choose from hundreds of style, colour, glazing and hardware combinations.

Composite door questions, answered

How much does a composite door cost in Belfast?
A composite front door supplied and fitted in Belfast typically costs between £1,750 and £3,600 depending on the style, glazing, colour and hardware you choose. Premium triple-glazed and bespoke designs can cost more. Every quote we provide is free, itemised and fixed — no surprises on fitting day. See our full price guide.
How long does fitting take?
Fitting itself usually takes 2–4 hours, including removing and recycling your old door. From ordering, most doors are manufactured and ready to install in around 6 weeks.
Composite vs uPVC — which should I choose?
Composite doors have a solid 44–70mm core and a GRP skin, making them stronger, more secure and better insulated than standard uPVC, with a more realistic timber look. uPVC costs less and is still a good budget option — we fit both, and we'll tell you honestly which suits your home and budget.
How secure are composite doors?
Very. The doors we fit use multi-point locking and anti-snap, anti-bump cylinders, and are manufactured to PAS 24 — the security benchmark behind the police-backed Secured by Design scheme.
How long will a composite door last?
30 years or more with virtually no maintenance. The GRP skin won't warp, rot, fade or need repainting — even through Northern Ireland's wet, windy winters. Our installations are backed by a 10-year guarantee.
Do you fit windows too?
Yes — we supply and fit A-rated double and triple glazed uPVC windows across Northern Ireland, and we repair existing doors and windows too (misty glass, locks, handles and hinges). See our repairs page or ask when you enquire.
